New Personal Finance Nonprofit Aims to Transform the Psychology of Everyday Spending Decisions by Showing How Spending Can Be a Cause of Wealth

Investorship Financial Education Foundation (IFEF) Launches with Giveaway of Free Book, Spending Your Way to Wealth(S)

Seattle, November 15, 2023 – Many Americans don’t think through their spending behaviors, practices and habits. People are often impulsive, not recognizing the deeper cause-and-effect relationship between spending and future consequences.

Now, a new nonprofit organization, Investorship Financial Education Foundation (IFEF) has been created to address this fundamental weakness in our nation’s financial literacy and personal financial habits by offering practical, accessible strategies for spending, based on the principles of behavioral economics. IFEF is launching with the free giveaway of its book Spending Your Way to Wealth(S).

When we ‘spill’ our money, we may spend it on things that are in excess of more cost-effective choices. These ordinary, everyday spending decisions, often resulting from deeply ingrained habits, can result in the forfeiture of future wealth(S) – both monetary and non-monetary.

Investorship, coined by IFEF, is defined as the characteristics, attitudes and behavioral qualities exhibited by people who make sound financial decisions. By reprogramming attitudes and behaviors, individuals begin to think about spending in an entirely new way. As they become more aware of their spending patterns, they are able to transform their lives, regardless of age, income or financial status.

After a career in corporate finance and investing, IFEF founder Paul Heys has made it his personal mission to help people learn to make smarter, more informed spending decisions. Inspired by the work of Nobel laureate Daniel Kahneman, and his bestselling book, Thinking, Fast and Slow, Heys seeks to communicate that smart decisions are based on reflective, rather than reactive, behaviors.

Heys, along with John Parsons, is the author of Spending Your Way to Wealth(S), a practical guide to the type of spending that can result in greater wealth. Using the plural term ‘wealthS,’ the book goes beyond financial wealth to suggest a broader definition that reflects personal satisfaction. IFEF is making the book available to anyone at no cost, including educators and students, through the QR code below.

“I have been fortunate to have accumulated a lifetime of knowledge about spending and investing,” said Heys. “My primary goal now is to share this with students, educators, and all Americans by providing the tools and resources needed to help everyone make the best choices that can have a long-lasting positive impact on their lives and their family’s lives. This is why we are offering our book at no cost. We are hoping these efforts will help this generation and the next generation of Americans prepare for more secure futures.”
